How long does a typical lupus diagnosis take?

Because lupus is such a complex disease, making a correct diagnosis can be difficult, and sometimes lupus is misdiagnosed. It may take time – months or even years – for doctors to assess the various symptoms to know that the underlying disease is lupus.
