Drug induced lupus

Hey there! It has been indicated to me by the rheumatologist that I may have drug induced lupus from either the birth control pill or Allegra. I have taken both of these for more than 2 years daily. I have a positive anti-histone antibody, elevated ESR and CRP levels, but negative for other ENAs, RF, and anti-CCP. It has been suggested to me that I stop taking both of these medications and wait. I have been off the birth control for three weeks and the Allegra for one week. I don't feel any relief at this point.

Does anyone here have or been diagnosed with drug induced lupus? I am going crazy and I am worried that soon I won't be able to continue working if we can't figure this out. She doesn't want me taking any medications to treat at this time either. I have had symptoms for 7-8 months.

Birth control pills make lupus worse and can cause a blood clot. Lupus can cause pulmonary issues and combined with the pill that's how I got a blood clot.was not fun! Sulfa drugs cause lupus to flare up big time. There are a few other drugs that can cause or flare lupus but I don't remember which ones. It will take more than 3 weeks for your body to normalize from the pill. I wish you luck. Just take it 1 day at a time.
