What med do you use for lupus?

Hi! Im new here and I've had lupus and RA for 6 years and on plaquenil. It's getting worse and now the docs want me to pick a drug like cellcept or benlysta. I'm kind of scared as I have two young kids and a dog and know they lower your immune system. I can't take steroids because I'm also a type 1 diabetic. What do you guys take and do you have any side effects?

Hello! I have been diagnosed with SLE two years ago. I have been taking 10mg of prednisolone (the French ''Solupred" by Sanofi) in the morning, after having breakfast and plaquenil as well. For a year now, my doctor advised me to take mycophenolate mofetil. I have to tell you that I have never in my life felt better than after discovering this drug. In my case, it's like it literally took the SLE out of me. I have seen improvements in my blood tests as well. I am not qualified to recommend it to anyone else against medical advice, but I'm happy I could share my experience and personal thoughts on the topic. Ask your doctor about it! Hope I was helpful! Best regards!  :)

I take plaquenil, Benlysta and cellcept. I have SLE & DLE. The only noticeable side effect I have is a low white cell count, which was low before I started both meds. So, not sure if that really is a side effect. I feel great. Have only minimal lupus problems now. I have had lupus for 37 years so I've had lots of problems, some deadly serious. I hope this helps. Keep in mind that what meds work for one, might not work well for others. Good luck
