Plaquinel?

My doc prescribed me plaquinel. I was eager for it to start working and it did. It relieved my itching on my neck, my red rashy breakouts, and my joint pain COMPLETELY.
So why am I not taking it? For fear of vision deficit/loss. It's always in the back of my mind, and when I forget how bad the itching is I can't justify taking it. So I am trying to manage with zyrtec, fish oil supplements, lotion, and diet. I'm feeling like I can't eat anything though and that's depressing me, so I'm not sticking to it and the symptoms are slowly worsening as my plaquinel dissipates.
Anyone else having a semilar battle with treatment?

@cas Definitely try http://www.igalen.com/emuline and https://lupavita.com ! When I started taking both of these I noticed a huge difference! My pain isn't 100% gone, but I can live with it now. I have more than Lupus so it may help you a lot more than it does me. It's definitely worth a shot.

I started taking this two months ago and have not seen any type of improvement, but I would ask the pharmacist about the vision concern, I asked mine and they said it is a concern for long term use, like 5+ years. I imagine anything is possible though, but it never hurts to ask for piece of mind.

Well I do know it takes 6 months to reach full effects. I started seeing improvements after 4.
Everyone I talk to says different things my optometrist says it's a big risk and I need eye exams every 6 months, but my rheumatologist says I don't need an eye exam but every 5years! So I'm leery to trust professionals, they are only human.

It is difficult when every professional you see has a differing opinion.

    Hi, new here,
I’ve bee taking plaque in for 11years
I’m in and out of remission.
I noticed the same prescription I filled at two different pharmacies looked different and performed different. One pill was round the other was oval shaped
The round was was generic and did not perform the same as the oval!
My lesson was to learn my body and discover many ways o living generously and living well.
All toxic people and places and things have been deleted.

I've been taking plaquenil since 1992. The risk of retina problems is like 1 - 2%. I go twice a year to an ophthalmologist to have my eyes checked. If caught soon you can stop the plaquenil and the retinas will return to normal.

I refuse to take anything and feel food is the best medicine. I follow a vegan lifestyle, no alcohol either. I cannot eat anything if I take a fish oil supplement. They all make me sick.
